EM (EMR · REM · EMP) — Building a Continuous-Improvement Electronic Monitoring Ecosystem for Responsible and Sustainable Fisheries
About Us
From Powering Korea's First FMC to Advancing Electronic Monitoring
In 2013, Korea faced international concerns over IUU (Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated) fishing. In 2014, the Korean government established the National Fisheries Monitoring Center (FMC), with SUNCOM developing the core monitoring systems that support its operations. Twelve years on, we remain committed to advancing the technology that helps prevent IUU fishing.

Our Solution
Not Three Separate Tools, but One Connected System
Video is captured and pre-analyzed at sea, synced to shore for remote oversight, and continuously re-analyzed onshore to improve the whole system — a single closed loop, not three disconnected products.
EMR
Electronic Monitoring & Report
Onboard vessel unit — captures video, runs initial AI analysis, and generates reports at sea.

Remote Electronic Monitoring
Shore-based operations — centrally manages and monitors EM systems across the entire fleet.

EM Platform
Shore-based analytics — advanced AI re-analyzes footage, validates reports, and retrains models.

Solution 01
EMR — Electronic Monitoring & Report
A compact, all-in-one industrial unit installed on the vessel. Live navigation and GPS monitoring, a touch-friendly interface, and up to five cameras — built for easy installation on any longline vessel.
Intelligent Event-Based Recording
AI decides what and when to record to minimize storage use — catch events and suspected illegal-species catches trigger selective, camera-specific recording.
Auto Catch Detection
Classifies caught species, estimates length and weight, and stores results locally on the vessel.
Secure Recording & Privacy Protection
Every recording is signed and encrypted locally, tamper-evident via digital signature, with real-time crew face blurring.
Automatic Event Reporting
AI detects predefined critical events at sea and automatically transmits the event images to REM ashore.
Set & Haul Detection
AI automatically detects when longlines are set and hauled, and limits analysis to the actual fishing zone.
VLM-Based Activity Recognition
A vision-language model reads crew actions and fishing context directly from video for flexible, adaptable detection.
Solution 02
REM — Remote Electronic Monitoring
REM lets operators remotely monitor vessel activity, review uploaded images, and manage onboard EM devices from a single, centralized interface — for the entire fleet at once.
